In 1960s Green Revolution occurred& simultaneously Industrial Revolution came into existence. In 1980s Economic Liberalization took place and Digital Revolution had started by 2010s.

Technology is always used as an effective instrument for growth and change. The ‘digital world’ that we stand today is due to modernization and innovations in automation, science and technology. The main pillars of Digital India which can transform India into transparent and knowledgeable country are as follows:

Broadband Highways:

It covers three components

  • Broadband for All – Rural

It will cover 25,000 village panchayats through National Optical Fiber Network.

  • Broadband for All – Urban

Virtual Network Operators will provide service and it will be mandate communication infrastructure in new urban development and building.

  • National Information Infrastructure

To provide high speed connectivity and cloud platform to various government departments at panchayat level NII will be used.

 

Universal Mobile Connectivity:

It will provide universal access to mobile connectivity around 55,619 villages in the country that do not have mobile coverage.

 

Public Internet Service Program:

There are main two sub components of it.

  • Common Service Center – Services like Aadhar card, e-Banking, Exam Results, Land Records will be available through Common Service Centers.
  • Post Office as multi service center – 150 thousand post offices are proposed to transform into multi service center.

 

e-Government – Reforming Government through Technology:

This will re-engineer the entire government sector or we can say the reformation of government using IT. It will make the government process more efficient & transparent through electronic databases, workflow automation inside government.

 

Electronic Delivery of Services:

E-Kranti Services for Education, Justice, Security, Healthcare, Financial Inclusion, Planning will be provided using ICT Infrastructure.

 

Open Data Platform:

There will be 2-way communication between citizens & government. Government will be actively engage through social media.

 

Electronic Manufacturing – Target Net ZERO Imports by 2020:

There will be zero balance for electronics import-export according to PM Narendra Modi Strategy.

 

Information Technology for Jobs:

The main target of this component is to train the youth of small town villages for IT Sector Jobs.

 

Early Harvest Program:

Early Harvest Program mainly consists of those projects which are to be implemented within short timeline.

India is growing and one of the most important factors conductive to its growth is technology. Every time there was a revolution, mankind has being re-defined. This time we call it a technological revolution. With advancement in sectors like telecom, IT, space – research and nuclear technology, India is surely marching ahead like never before.
